Vanessa Barchuk

Vanessa is a 16 year old singer from Boca Raton, FL. She loves to sing classical music, opera and broadway songs. Vanessa has always had a love for music ever since she was a little girl. She started by playing the violin and flute, and now she plays the piano, dances, and sings. She has always enjoyed singing since she was little, since she was surrounded by music because her grandma was a professional opera singer.

When Vanessa turned 15 she decided to go back to singing and to start taking lessons at North Broward Preparatory School with one of the amazing teachers who pushed her to do her very best. This year is also Vanessa’s first year in her school’s choir. Besides her normal voice lessons, Vanessa has had the amazing opportunity to learn from the opera diva, Virginia Zeani. Within the past year Vanessa has performed the “Lakmé Flower Duet” from the opera Lakmé by Léo Delibes along with being part of the song “Libiamo ne' lieti calici” from the opera La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi at her school's choir concert. She also had the opportunity to sing in her church's chorus for Christmas. She sang the “Star Spangled Banner” at the school's National Honor Society induction ceremony. She has also sang at nursing homes. She also performed in her very first opera “Gianni Schicchi” by Giacomo Puccini playing the part of Nella. Along with that she performed two songs at BCMTA fundraiser with her amazing pianist Professora Barbara Salani and sang in the chorus at the Broward Center of Performing Arts, for the song “We are the World” by Michael Jackson.

Vanessa wants to bring joy to people with her voice. Vanessa is honored to be selected for this great opportunity and to be a contestant in the Celebration of Music competition.
